There’s exciting news for Wisconsin winter fans: The Glide Ice Skating Trail in Boulder Junction is officially returning for the 2025 / 2026 season.
Set among snow-covered pines in the heart of the Northwoods, this one-of-a-kind ice skating trail in Wisconsin offers the rare chance to lace up your skates and glide nearly a mile through the forest. It’s the kind of outdoor experience that makes you grateful to live in a state that embraces winter as beautifully as this.
Wisconsin’s Answer to Canada’s Iconic Skating Trails
For years, winter travelers have admired Domaine de la Forêt Perdue, the stunning ice trail between Quebec City and Montreal where skaters glide through miles of maple forest. Now, Wisconsin has its own version to celebrate.
The Glide brings that same sense of wonder closer to home. Smooth, Zamboni-groomed ice, gentle curves, and solar-lit paths make it one of the most magical winter experiences in the Midwest.
What’s New for 2025 / 2026 at The Glide
According to the Boulder Junction Park Board, a number of upgrades were completed this summer to make the experience even better for visitors:
-
- Expanded parking along Old K, providing easier access to the trail and Winter Park amenities
- A new woodshed by the fire-pit gathering area, ensuring dry wood and a cozy space for skaters to warm up
- New gates and signage to welcome guests and highlight Boulder Junction’s charm
- Flattened and leveled skating areas for smoother ice and more consistent grooming throughout the trail
“Winter Park has quickly become a signature destination for residents and visitors alike, and these upgrades will make the experience even more enjoyable for everyone,” said Laura Bertch, Chair of the Boulder Junction Park Board.
A full calendar of family nights and community events is planned this winter, thanks to the ongoing support of local volunteers and businesses.
